Client: Private Residential Property
Location: Chiltern Hills
Security in residential environments is often about more than protecting property — it is about peace of mind, personal safety, and the ability to feel secure at home, both day and night.
In May 2025, a homeowner contacted FHA Security following a targeted incident at their property, which resulted in significant internal fire damage. While the situation was handled by emergency services, the experience understandably left the homeowner concerned and prompted a full review of the home’s security.
Understanding the Risk
At the time of the incident, the property was protected by an outdated, hardwired alarm system installed as a basic bells-only setup. While it functioned at a basic level, it offered no real-time alerts, monitoring, or remote visibility.
As a result, the homeowners were unaware of the incident until emergency services were alerted by a third party.
Our initial assessment focused not only on the limitations of the existing system, but also on understanding the homeowner’s concerns — particularly around feeling secure when away from the property and during night-time hours.
Designing for Reassurance and Deterrence
From the outset, the aim was not simply to upgrade equipment, but to create a system that would provide clear visibility, strong deterrence, and immediate awareness of any activity around the home.
The layout of the property played an important role in the design. A large rear garden backing onto open land required careful consideration to ensure consistent perimeter coverage without blind spots.
A Fully Integrated Security Solution
Following a detailed site survey, FHA Security implemented a layered residential security system combining CCTV, intruder alarms, and smart detection technology.
The installation included:
- A continuous-recording CCTV system with up to 45 days of local storage
- Full external coverage with high-resolution cameras
- Colour night vision with built-in lighting for clear footage in low-light conditions
- Remote access via smartphone app for live viewing and playback
Alongside this, a smart intruder alarm system was installed, featuring:
- 24/7 central station monitoring
- Level 1 police response eligibility
- Dual-path signalling for reliable communication
- Bluetooth disarming and smart device integration
- Individual user access codes for controlled entry
Intelligent Detection and Automated Response
To strengthen protection further, AI-enabled video technology was integrated into the system.
Cameras at the front and rear of the property create activity-based detection zones, triggering recordings and instant alerts when movement is identified.
Specific scenarios were configured to provide an added layer of reassurance:
- Movement within the property boundary triggers immediate notifications and video capture
- Activity in the rear garden during out-of-hours periods activates lighting and audio warnings
- The garage and key access points are monitored with dedicated detection zones
This ensures the system not only records activity, but actively responds in real time, helping to deter and manage potential threats.
Built for Reliability
The system was designed with full redundancy, ensuring it remains operational even in the event of disruption.
This includes:
- Backup power supply
- SIM-based communication in case of broadband failure
- Seamless integration between CCTV, alarm, and detection systems
Installation was completed in December 2025, with all components configured and tested to operate as a unified system.
The Result: Peace of Mind Restored
Today, the property is protected by a fully integrated, professionally monitored security system, providing continuous coverage and real-time awareness.
For the homeowner, the outcome is simple but meaningful — the ability to feel comfortable and secure in their home again.
For FHA Security, the project reflects the importance of taking a considered, responsive approach — delivering not just security systems, but confidence and reassurance when it is needed most.
