Security Upgrade: Improving Visibility and Awareness
FHA Security began working with the customer in 2018, starting with key upgrades to improve awareness and usability.
The existing alarm system was replaced with a modern smart intruder alarm, providing:
- Instant smartphone notifications
- Clear identification of triggered zones
- Greater control without relying on vague or delayed alerts
At the same time, the CCTV system was upgraded to deliver:
- Higher-resolution footage
- Remote access via smartphone
- Real-time motion alerts
These improvements gave the homeowner far greater visibility and control. However, despite this, the property was still targeted, and another attempted break-in occurred.
Moving to a Custom Security Setup
At this stage, it became clear that detection at the point of entry was not enough. The system needed to respond earlier — before access was attempted.

External perimeter beam sensors were installed around the boundary of the property. These detect movement as soon as someone enters the grounds — well before they reach doors or windows.

When a perimeter sensor is triggered:
- The 24/7 monitoring team immediately accesses the live CCTV feed
- Activity is visually verified in real time
- The homeowner is contacted to confirm whether access is authorised
- If a genuine threat is identified, police are dispatched with confirmed evidence of intrusion
This verification process is critical. It ensures that emergency services respond with urgency, based on confirmed activity rather than unverified alerts.
Preventing an Incident in Real Time
In one instance, the system worked exactly as intended.
The perimeter detection triggered before the intruder could attempt entry. The monitoring team verified the activity, and police were dispatched promptly — resulting in the individual being apprehended before any damage occurred.

Rather than relying on continuous CCTV monitoring — which can be costly and intrusive — the system is designed to be event-driven.
Cameras are only accessed when a perimeter breach occurs, ensuring:
