Yale PIR?s have a built-in 60 second sleep timer, to prolong the battery life. Arm your system before vacating all areas occupied by PIR detectors for a maximum period of 60 seconds, before re-entering the area and retesting. Please bear in mind, that faster reaction is obtained when movement is detected by walking across the field of view of a PIR lens, rather than simply standing in front of it.
The PIR?s will respond to movement of up to 15 metres away.
The red PIR lights will not always flash, to conserve the battery life. If you are in any doubt of the ÿoperation of a PIR, vacate the area for up to 60 seconds, and test using the ?walk test? facility.
The control-panel based system has a useful ?walk test? feature. This allows radio range testing of the various devices, without having to audibly test your alarm so as not to cause nuisance to your neighbours
All of the detectors are completely wire-free, there are no mains wiring required to install your system. The control panel-based alarms, however, connect to the mains power supply via the DC transformer lead provided in the kit

All the alarms we offer come by default with the self-monitoring option provided you have a telecommunicating alarm system. If you do not want to self monitor the alarm we do offer monitoring via a third party monitoring station. please give FHA security customer service team a call on 020 3137 8727 for more details.
A self-monitored alarm contacts a preloaded list of people in the alarm if it is triggered and you will decide on the next action once you verify the alarm. In a third-party monitoredÿalarm, the alarm is monitored 24/7 by a 3rd party alarm receiving centre (ARC). The staffs at the ARC respond to your alarm activations by contacting you and your pre-defined list of key-holders. This option is available with most of our systems with a monthly ongoing cost and requires an annual service.
A Police monitored alarm offers immediate notification to the emergency services in the event of serious threat to your home security. This depends on the specification of your system and individual circumstances; it can also be a very expensive way to monitor your alarm. Please contact the office for more information.
You will have more information in your fingertips than a monitoring station will if you have a smart alarm with camera sensors. An image verified alarm notification is taken seriously as a 999 emergency call by the police. While there is nothing stopping you from still having it monitored, a self-monitored option may do the job.
Unfortunately, Yale alarms do not comply with the minimum grading requirements for remote monitoring by ARCs, it won?t be possible.
A monitored alarm is more likely to be required for higher risk properties. When applying for insurance or in the event of a claim following a burglary, your insurer may ask for proof that an alarm has been installed in line with their requirements.ÿA British standard grade 2 alarm is sufficient even if it is self-monitored. We are SSAIB approved installers and can offer both self-monitored and third-party monitored alarms. Check with you insurance provider if you are unsure.
A key holder service is when the ARC team respond to your alarm activations by contacting you and your pre-defined list of key-holders.This is not to be confused with a key holding service, where a 3rd party manned Security Company has a set of keys for your property.
All approved monitored companies will be regulated by NSI or SSAIB and get regular inspections from regulators to ensure compliance. You can identify these by looking them up on the regulator?s websites.
Our maintenance plans come with complete peace of mind and you can cancel any time you choose to. There are no cancellation charges either. If you have monitoring with your maintenance plan, the minimum term is 12 months.
Third-party monitoring requires annual service and Police response monitoring may require up to 3 services a year.
Yes. Specialist CCTV monitoring companies do live monitor CCTV cameras 24/7 and it is mostly done only in commercial applications due to its very high cost.
PIR ? Passive InfraRed motion detection sensors used within a designed area or a room to detect movement and alert the alarm control panel.
D/C (Door Contact)- Magnetic door contacts trigger the alarm when the magnetic field created by the two pieces of contacts are breached.
PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network)- Burglar alarms with PSTN modules useÿtraditional landline connections for calling out in the event of an alarm.
GSM(Global System for Mobile)- Burglar alarms with GSM module useÿsim cards inside the alarm for calling or texting and data connection for smart app remote connectivity.
IP(Internet Protocol)- Burglar alarm uses an IP module for connecting your alarm to broadband for remote access and smartphone connectivity. A physical cat6 connection between broadband and alarm control panel will be needed.
Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity)-Your burglar alarm can be wirelessly connected to your broadband for smartphone connectivity.
POE (Power over Ethernet)- Your CCTV system will get both power and data transfer through network cables. So using ethernet connection between the recorder and cameras, cameras are powered and data transferred back to the recorder. This eliminates the need for separate cables and power supply.
POC (Power over Coaxial)- Coaxial video cable will be used for transfer of video and power. This eliminates the need for separate cables and power supply.
EN 50131- European systems standard for burglar alarms that need to be installed and maintained by certified and regulated installation companies. There are 4 grades within EN50131 British standards.
Alarm Grades (4 Grades) ?There are 4 intruder alarm security grades. From the lowest Grade 1 up to Grade 4. However, Grade 4 systems are non-existent for practical purposes. Only Grades 2 and 3 can gain police response to alarms. To make it more understandable ?The Security grade is a measure of the resilience to outside influences and to attack by criminals.” It is the norm to describe Security Grades like this: Grade 2: intruders are expected to have more knowledge and some specialist equipment. Ideal for residential and small business requirements Grade 3: intruders will have both comprehensive knowledge and portable electronic equipment. Ideal for businesses with specific insurance requirements. Grade 4: intruders have the expertise, access to good equipment and planned intrusion. Used for high-end commercial uses like banks and building societies.
ARC (Alarm Response Centre)-ÿARCs are accredited alarm monitoring stations that manage and respond to monitored alarm alerts.
Powercode- Visonic Powercode Series wireless burglar alarm technology used in Powermax series of Burglar Alarms.
PowerG- Visonic PowerG is the patented two-way wireless technology used in Visonic?s Powermaster range of alarms.
DIY- Do It Yourself.
At night, our CCTV cameras use Infra Red lights to display the video output. IR light is invisible to the human eye and it bounces of hard surface to reflect the infra red rays and helps the camera to see in the night. The output in darkness will be black and white.
All our CCTV systems are designed to keep the recordings for a minimum of 30 days and in some cases lasting upto 60-65 days depending on number of cameras and size of storage in your custom designed CCTV.
Certainly! Our professionally installed CCTV systems are designed to be connected to your broadband at your home/ your business to give you remote viewing of your property from an android/ iphone app or from a computer with internet access. Please note, in some cases, depending on your broadband provider, you may require static ip for remote viewing
For residential properties, we do not think you need a dedicated monitor for viewing your footage all the time. We do recommend one for businesses. If you require us to supply one, please do let us know, we do CCTV monitors starting from Å100.00 plus VAT. There may also options to have your CCTV connected to your existing TV depending on the location of the DVR. There may be additional cabling/ accessories cost associated with this.
The recorder (DVR/NVR) can be placed in a number of locations based on the following factors. Entry point for all cables from the cameras into the house, Number of cameras and their location, proximity of preferred location for CCTV recorder to power supply, broadband and/ or TV monitor.
Possibly. Depending on ease of access, power supply and connections for remote app connectivity.
Professional grade CCTV systems as a minimum need power supply and in most cases a direct connection to the main recording (DVR/ NVR) unit. As CCTV cameras are recording constantly, they need more than just battery power to operate, hence needing the cables to connect them. We do our best make sure most cables are outside the property or mostly invisible if there is any inside.
There is a fault on the system- Usually a low battery, power failures, communication errors or tamper warnings. If you are not sure on how to identify and fix it, please give FHA security customer service team a call on 020 3137 8727 and our tech-savvy team can help you identify the fault and if needed, arrange engineer visits.
